Azerbaijan has not confirmed reports that it intends to buy unmanned
reconnaissance planes from Israel to watch the territories it lost
during a war with Armenia, the Interfax-Azerbaijan news agency
reported.
Defence Ministry spokesman Eldar Sabiroglu was quoted as saying that
he had no information about this.
The Azerbaijani website Day.az had earlier reported that the ministry
planned to buy 10 Hermes planes from Israel's Silver Arrow company. It
said the planes were needed to watch the country's breakaway Nagornyy
Karabakh region and surrounding districts under Armenian control.
