YEREVAN, JUNE 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The representatives of the municipality
of Yerevan have taken part in a number of conferences for the past
    two months.

In particular, the delegation of the municipality took part in the
international conference organized in Moscow by the Assembly of Big
Capitals in April. A number of issues connected with the governing
system of environmental protection and traffic in big cities were
    discussed at the conference.

As David Gevorgian, the Head of the Foreign Relations Department of
the municipality of Yerevan, stated at the press conference, which was
held on June 9, they have also taken part in the conference dedicated
to the cultural policy of cities, which was organized in Bucharest in
May, as well as in the conference dedicated to the economic sphere
held in Moscow. Soon the delegation of the municipality will leave
for Astana to take part in the regular summit to be organized by the
    Assembly of Big Capitals.

At the same time it was mentioned that an agreement will be concluded
between Yerevan and a number of cities, in particular, Sofia, Shiraz
(Iran), and Astana (Kazakhstan) and a bilateral cooperation will be
established with those cities. D. Gevorgian stated that an Armenian
Khachkar (commemorative crossstone) will be moved to Sofia from Yerevan
soon within the framework of that cooperation, which will be placed
in the Yerevan park of the capital of Bulgaria and the first stage
of the reconstruction and improvement work of the Lion garden will
start in Yerevan in the coming months.
