YEREVAN, JUNE 14, NOYAN TAPAN. The political coalition stipulated
practically all the requirements of the PACE resolution 1609 earlier in
its agreement and assumed an obligation to fulfil them. The leader of
the National Assembly "ARF" faction, ARF Bureau member Vahan
Hovhannisian stated this at the June 13 briefing. He also expressed an
opinion that in writing the resolution, its authors used the coalition
agreement close at hand. "So I do not want to speak about fulfilment of
the requirements of resolution No 1609. I am more interested in
implementation of the requirements stipilated in the coalition
agreement. None of them is of sutiational character, all are
long-term," the deputy said.
In his view, the process of reforms has started, and considerable
progress has been made. "In my opinion, the reforms implemented are in
line with the requirements of resolution 1609 and I do not think that
even the most detailed and interested discussion at that international
organization may deprive Armenia of its voting right or make it face
similar sanctions," the ARF faction leader noted.
According to V. Hovahhisian, it is just wrong to call the all the
system resforms so far implemented an imitation. "I suspect there are
some political forces, some political circles that call each success
dangerous, because they will benefit from the principle "the worse, the
better is" as it will allow them to continue the movements raised on
waves of hatred, it is natural that each positive reform worries them
because it means a loss of co-thinkers," he said.
