US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labour
David Kramer said at today's press-conference that he trusts more
in the information received from his counterparts, employees of the
USA Embassy in Armenia than the official materials published by RA
Prosecutor General's Office. He emphasized that people died during
March 1 events in Yerevan and those responsible for that should
be punished. He exampled the USA where a commission was created
in the Congress for investigation of September 11, 2002, events,
which included equal number of representatives of the Republican and
Democratic parties. He said he does not compare September 11, 2002,
events in New York with March 1, 2008, events in Yerevan, however,
the experience of creation of commissions and holding of investigation
may be useful. He added that both the authorities, the civil society
and the opposition should take part in the investigation.
