US STATE DEPARTMENT HOPES FOR PROMPT NORMALIZATION OF ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS

US State Department hopes for the prompt normalization of the
Armenian-Turkish relations, US deputy Assistant Secretary of State
for Europe and Eurasia, OSCE MG American Cochairman Matthew Bryza
said in the Washington University of Near-East Policy, the foreign
mass media report.
He also said that normalization of the relations will include
establishment of diplomatic relations with Armenia and opening of
the Armenian border, as well as recognition of today's borders of
Turkey by Yerevan. M. Bryza said they hope that these steps will lead
to discussion of the common and tragic past of these two friends of
the USA. He also expressed confidence that Turkey's joining EU will
be of benefit to both Turkey and Europe.
