Switzerland
Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey is in Istanbul today for a
World Economic Forum meeting on Europe and Central Asia. Mrs Calmy-Rey
is expected to meet her Turkish counterpart, Ali Babacan. The meeting
follows a number of cancelled visits by Swiss cabinet ministers,
after a cooling of relations between Switzerland and Turkey. Tensions
were felt in 2003, after the federal cabinet recognised as genocide
the massacre of Armenians by Turkey between 1915 and 1916.
