ArmInfo. Armenia cooperates with NATO but it does not willing to
become NATO member-state in order not to draw new dividing lines in
the region, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan says.
'We believe that the cooperation with NATO is part of our security
system.
However, we have no intention to become a member-state. It may be very
dangerous to draw new dividing lines in the region. It is the lesson
from Georgian war>, the president told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Asked if Armenia's neighbors should stop striving for NATO as
well,Serzh Sargsyan said: 'I cannot speak on behalf of other
states'. 'Our policy for the last ten years was to search for balance
of interests of America, Russia and NATO. It may be very attracting
and very dangerous gaining from the conflict of these forces', the
president said.
