LEVON ARONIAN BEATS VISWANATHAN ANAND WITH BLACKS IN GRAND SLAM CHESS TOURNAMENT

BILBAO, SEPTEMBER 11, NOYAN TAPAN. In the 8th round of the Grand
Slam chess tournament being held in the city of Bilbao, Spain, held
on September 10, Levon Aronian (Armenia) with blacks beat Viswanathan
Anand (India), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) beat Magnus Carlsen (Norway)
and Vasily Ivanchuk (Ukraine) beat Temur Rajabov (Azerbaijan).
Veselin Topalov is tournament's leader with 13 points after 8
rounds. L. Aronian has gained 12 points and is in the second
place. M. Carlsen, V. Ivanchuk have 11 points each, V. Anand and
T. Rajabov have 6 points each.
September 11 is announced a rest day in the tournament. L. Aronian
will compete with Ivanchuk with blacks in the 9th round scheduled
for September 12.
