Those two U.S. track relay teams that failed to pass the baton took
a lot of grief, but the real dummy of the Beijing Olympics was Ara
Abrahamian.
Sweden's Armenian-born Greco-Roman wrestler scored a quadfecta for
international affiliations, but made the mistake of chucking his
bronze medal on the way out of the arena.
Abrahamian was still ticked about the judging during his semifinal
loss, and put the medal on the arena floor before departing from the
awards ceremony.
Now, according to Bloomberg, he'd like to have his hardware back. He
has appealed the International Olympic Committee's decision to strip
him of the medal bronze medal after he threw it away during the awards
ceremony. He has asked the Court of Arbitration for Sport to limit
his sanction to a warning. No date has been set for a hearing.
