ARMENIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY REP.: FORMING A CSTO REAL MECHANISM TO COUNTERACT AGGRESSION IS ADDITIONAL GUARANTEE AGAINST ATTEMPTS OF FORCED SETTLEMENT OF KARABAKH CONFLICT

ArmInfo. The decision to establish Collective Rapid Deployment
Forces (CRDF) adopted at CSTO Summit will create a strong political,
contractual and military basis to counteract aggression against any
CSTO member-state, said Head of the Institute of National Strategic
Research of Armenian Defense Ministry, Major General Hayk Kotanjyan,
Defense Ministry press-service reported.
'Given the bitter experience of the war in South Ossetia in August
2008, formation of a real mechanism to counteract aggression is an
additional guarantee against adventurist steps of those who hope for
forced settlement of Karabakh conflict and threaten to international
security both in the region and outside it', H. Kotanjyan said. He
is sure that the military component of CSTO will make the collective
fight against international terrorism, transnational crime, drug
traffic more effective as well as will upgrade the efficiency of
responding to natural calamities and man-made disasters.
