Famous French singer Charles Aznavour has been appointed as Armenia's
ambassador to Switzerland. Mr Aznavour was born in France as the
son of Armenian immigrants. The singer, who is nearly 85 years old,
was granted Armenian citizenship last year. He said he was happy and
honoured to have been appointed ambassador.
Charles Aznavour, sometimes called the French Frank Sinatra, still
performs regularly. He was very successful internationally with
English versions of his songs, including Yesterday When I Was Young,
The Old-fashioned Way and She.
