SAFRASTYAN: OBAMA WILL NOT CALL 1915 EVENTS "GENOCIDE'

Ruben Safrastyan, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies in
the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, stated that President Obama
will not call 1915 events as "genocide' in his speech on April 24 2009.
According to Safrastyan, since Afghanistan has gradually become a
significant topic for US politics, Turkey's importance as an ally for
the US to conduct its policies in the region got higher. Moreover,
Safratsyan claimed that Turkey and the US officials held talks on a
"possible' US base in Turkey.
Safratsyan further stated that Obama will keep his nation's interests
before Armenians' and will not call 1915 events as 'genocide' in his
speech on April 24.
