Serzh Sargsyan held a working consultation at the Yerevan municipality
today on the social/economic projects implemented by the municipality
and districts in 2008 and the plan for urban development in 2009.
Before moving on the agenda, the President drew attention to two
issues.
The President said that the logic, principles and methods of municipal
administration have undergone changes and that he is going to place
more demands on the municipality and the districts.
"We must be able to carry out our functions and make a smooth
transition to a new way of administration," he stressed and added that
it requires more effort in order to not falter the daily activities
in Yerevan.
"It will be necessary to secure the regular day-to-day activities in
the city and the continuity of projects," said Sargsyan. The president
also demanded the total estimation of issues, assets, debts and duties
in Yerevan to continue the work.
The President also said that state structures and officials must
support businessmen in any business activity during the global
financial/economic crisis and advised them to pay attention to the
construction projects taking place in areas of state interest.
Mayor Yervand Zakharyan reported the results of social-economic
projects implemented by the municipality and the districts. Zakharyan
discussed the projects implemented in fields of transportation,
construction and improvement, city-building, trade and services,
education, culture, society and healthcare and the existing
issues. Zakharyan also presented the plan for urban development
in 2009.
Summing up the consultation, Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance
of paying special attention to the municipal construction projects
being implemented in areas of state interest and the fulfillment of
duties in 2009.
