VLADIMIR PUTIN: APPROVAL OF BUDGET BY RUSSIAN STATE DUMA TO ALLOW ARMENIA TO RECEIVE $500 MLN STABILIZATION CREDIT

ArmInfo.'We have almost completed processing of the issue on extension
of credit to Armenia to the sum of 500 mln dollars>, Russian Prime
Minister Vladimir Putin said yesterday during the meeting with Prime
Minister of Armenia Tigran Sarkisyan in Novo-Ogarevo. He expressed
confidence in implementation of the agreements reached, that requires
some changes in the country's state budget. According to V. Putin, the
Russian government also schedules to support the Armenian economy. The
Russian PM emphasized that he has recently met President of Armenia
Serzh Sargsyan in Davos.
'Despite all the difficulties, the goods turnover between the two
countries grew by 10% in 2008 to $900 mln. The accumulated Russian
investments to the economy of Armenia made up $1.8 bln.', Putin said.
For his part, the Armenian PM thanked his Russian counterpart for
support.
'This is a very serious amount and we are sure that due to this
assistance we shall be able to overcome the negative impacts of the
global crisis', he emphasized and expressed confidence that these
funds will enable to create a macroeconomic situation for the thousand
enterprises with the Russian capital which efficiently operate in
Armenia. T. Sarkisyan also said about his meeting held today with
Cochairman of the Russian- Armenian intergovernmental Commission,
Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin. 'We have come to an agreement
on all the issues of mutual interest', T. Sarkisyan emphasized. Today,
the prime minister of Armenia left the Russian capital.
