    GROWTH IN ALMOST ALL TYPES OF TAXES RECORDED IN ARMENIA IN JANUARY-NOVEMBER 2008

    YEREVAN, JANUARY 14, NOYAN TAPAN. The tax revenues of the RA state
    budget amounted to 553.1 bln drams (about 1 bln 808.7 mln USD) in
    January-November 2008, with the annual program being implemented by
    90.6%. Tax revenues grew by 22.2% or 100.6 bln drams as compared
    with the same period of 2007. A growth was recorded in almost all
    the types of taxes, except for simplified tax revenues.

    According to the press service of the RA ministry of finance, the VAT
    revenues made 297.4 bln drams in January-November 2008, which made
    up 53.8% of tax revenues. 193.3 bln drams of the indicated sum was
    received from taxation at the border of the RA, and 104.1 bln drams
    was received from taxation of the domestic turnover of goods and
    services. VAT revenues grew by 24.6% or 58.6 bln drams on the same
    period of 2007. There was a growth of revenues from both imports and
    domestic turnover.

    Excise tax revenues amounted to 42.6 bln drams in January-November
    2008, which made up 7.7% of tax revenues: in particular, over 31 bln
    drams of the indicated sum was received from taxation of imported
    goods, including 15.2 bln drams - from taxation of imported gasoline
    and diesel fuel, and 11.5 bln drams - from taxation of imported
    cigarettes. State budgetary revenues from taxation of ecxisable goods
    made in Armenia amounted to 11.6 bln drams, including 5.5 bln drams
    from domestically produced cigarettes. Excise tax revenues grew by
    13.4% or 5 bln drams as compared on the same period of 2007, which
    was mainly conditioned by a growth of revenues from taxation of
    imported gasoline and cigarettes, as well as domestically produced
    cigarettes. There was also a growth of excise tax revenues from some
    types of imported and domestically produced alcoholic drinks.
