Putin meets Armenian president
Davos, 29 January: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has held a
working meeting with President Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia.
Putin thanked the Armenian leader for taking part in the recent
international meeting on gas industry problems, which was held in
Moscow at the initiative of Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev. "This
was a useful meeting," Putin said.
He also said he was satisfied with the pace of the development of
bilateral relations. "Russia is Armenia's first trade economic
partner. We have a very trustful partnership and trustful political
dialogue," Putin said.
For his part, Sargsyan said that every opportunity must be used to
develop the dialogue. He said that this necessity "stems from the
interests of our peoples".
Sargsyan also said he was pleased that trade between Russia and
Armenia exceeded 1bn dollars in 2008.
