    ARCHBISHOP VICKEN AYKASIAN APPOINTED MEMBER OF US PRESIDENT'S ADVISORY COUNCIL ON INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE

    WASHINGTON, JULY 3, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. Archbishop Vicken
    Aykasian, a monk of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, diocesan
    messenger of the US Eastern Diocese, President of the US National
    Council of Churches was appointed a member of the Task Force of
    the US President Barak Obama's Advisory Council on Inter-Religious
    Dialogue. Noyan Tapan was informed about it by the Interchurch
    Relations Department of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

    The Task Force on Inter-Religious Dialogue consists of 12 religious
    primates and eminent ecumenical figures who discuss with the President
    most important interreligious issues through phone conferences taking
    place once every two weeks.

    During the past months, His Holiness Vicken participated in numerous
    discussions with the President's Advisory structures on establishing
    peace in the Near East and on other issues US churches are concerned
    with.
