Azerbaijan - GOV - Statement on Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict Settlement
Released at G-8 Summit
Presidents of the United States, Russia and France have released a
statement on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the G8
summit in L`Aquila, Italy, visiting OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs told
journalists.
According to the statement, Presidents Barack Obama, Dmitry Medvedev
and Nicolas Sarkozy instructed the co-chairs `to present to the
presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan an updated version of a proposed
peace outline brought forward in the Madrid Document of November
2007'.
The document goes on to say the Presidents affirm their commitment to
efforts by Armenia and Azerbaijan to finalize `the basic principles
for settlement' of the conflict.
`We urge the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve the few
differences remaining between them and finalize their agreement on
these Basic Principles which will outline a comprehensive settlement,'
the statement says.
The document also says the three leaders will support Presidents of
Azerbaijan and Armenia to finalize their agreement on the Basic
Principles.
