COMPENSATION AGAINST HAILSTORM

On June 27, arable lands belonging to dozens of communities of Martouni
and Askeran regions suffered great damages by the hailstorm. The
conference conducted by the NKR Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan,
participated by the heads of the mentioned regional administrations
and community heads, was devoted to the problem of eliminating the
serious consequences caused by the natural disaster. According to
the data announced by the Minister of Agriculture Armo Tsatryan,
totally 1636 hectares of cultivated land were fully or partially
damaged by the hailstorm. The issue of rendering compensation by the
Government was discussed on the basis of proposals. The Prime Minister
arranged the forms and proportions of assistance in compliance with
the state narrow means. On part of the damaged vineyards, owners are
anticipated to get compensation for the incurred expenses of 2009
and to be exempted of credit payment for 2 years.
An initial decision concerning the hailed down grain fields was reached
as well. Compensation will be provided to the land users having taken
less than 10 centners of crop. In concern with the wholly damaged
arable lands it was suggested cultivating the lands collectively this
year through state support and under the control of the Ministry of
Agriculture. Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan once more expressed his
profound dissatisfaction towards the low level of land cultivation
and instructed the competent bodies to conduct necessary explanatory
work among the farmers.
Separate assistance is planned for the Kert, Karahounj and Kolkhozashen
villages' inhabitants whose property sustained considerable damages
by the hail.
The Vice-Premier, Minister of Finance S.Tevosyan was present at
the conference.
