YEREVAN, JULY 22, NOYAN TAPAN. RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik
Abrahamian met with OSCE Yerevan Office Head, Ambassador Sergey Kapinos
on July 21. The interlocutors discussed and reached agreements over
steps to be undertaken to perfect Armenia's legislative sphere and
to bring it in line with the European standards.
According to a report by the RA National Assembly Public Relations
Department, the interlocutors held the same opinion that the Council
of Europe Venice Commission and OSCE ODIHR play a great role in that
issue, and their joint conclusions over bills being discussed are
useful instruments for Armenia's legislators. Issues of freedom of
conscience and religion, freedom of press and expression, as well as
legislative regulation in the spheres of television and radio were
discussed in that context.
Attaching importance to the activity of the OSCE Yerevan Office,
H. Abrahamian, in particular, highly assessed the contribution of
the Office to the issue of fulfillment of the commitments assumed
by Armenia towards OSCE singling out the implemented programs in the
sphere of strengthening country's economic security.
