RPA FACTION SECRETARY: ARMENIA IS MORE RELIABLE PARTNER FOR EUROPE, USA AND RUSSIA THAN TURKEY

ArmInfo. The Armenian-Turkish Protocols should be ratified by the
Turkish Parliament first of all, as the Armenian-Turkish border was
closed in 1993 just by the initiative of Turkey, Secretary of faction
of the Republican party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told ArmInfo.
According to him, after closing of the border, official Ankara has
always set preconditions, moreover, in due course, Armenia adopted
a national security Strategy which expresses readiness to normalize
the relations with Turkey without preconditions.
Sharmazanov expressed an opinion that the statement of the Turkish
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu after signing of the Protocols
are possibly addressed to the Azerbaijani audience or the Turkish
opposition, as the latter claims that President Gul and PM Erdogan
fell into the Armenian trap. Along with it, Sharmazanov expressed hope
that the parliament of Turkey will show a political will after all.
'Armenia has never prejudiced its official position regarding
normalization of relations. We have never advanced preconditions,
consequently, Armenia is a more reliable partner for Europe, USA and
Russia than Turkey, as in this process, the statements of our president
are concordant with the statements of the US, Russian and EU leaders',
Sharmazanov emphasized.
