ICJ verdict on Kosovo not to serve as precedent for mediators to
recognize Karabakh
July 30, 2010 | 14:26
The verdict of The Hague International Court is indefinite, as it
recognizes the declaration of legal independence, political scientist
Sergey Shakaryan told the reporters on Friday .According to him, there
is no need to be excited over the ICJ judgment as it has nothing in
common with Nagorno-Karabakh.
Shakaryan stressed there are similarities between Kosovo and
Nagorno-Karabakh, but there are differences too. The Karabakh issue is
much alike Cyprus issue, as both the Artsakh and Cyprus issues set the
task for `the same nation to live in the same state.'
According to him, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will not use the
International Court's decision in the Karabakh peace process and the
Kosovo's precedent will not serve as precedent for mediators to
recognize Karabakh's independence.
