YEREVAN ANDRANIK MARGARYAN NO. 29 SENIOR SCHOOL STUDENTS HOSTED IN THE PARLIAMENT

Within the framework of the Open Doors policy of the National Assembly
on December 6 a group of students of Yerevan Andranik Margaryan
No. 29 Senior School. After taking part at the first sitting of the
next four-day sittings of the National Assembly they met with the
Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan. The next Open
Lesson conducted by the head of the parliament was continued in the
sincere conversation on different themes.
Highly assessing the importance of such meetings the NA Speaker
emphasized the continuity, as they served as an opportunity to closer
approach the parliament to the society, school and students. He noted
that during the last two years the National Assembly in that aspect
had become rather open.
Introducing the structure, the functions, the relationship of
the political forces, briefly touching upon the processes of the
Armenian-Turkish relations and the NK conflict settlement, Hovik
Abrahamyan later answered the schoolchildren~Rs questions. During
the question-and-answer session the NA Speaker urged to effectively
use the time in a right way at school and obtain much knowledge,
which would give opportunity to achieve success.
Answering to the question of one of the students concerning the
support of the schoolchildren studying with excellent marks, the
head of the parliament agreed that it was necessary to assist them,
and as an example of the support of the state, he noted the activity
of the Luis fund. Hovik Abrahamyan said that as a Chairman of the
Council of the Armenian State University of Economics, from 2011 NA
Speaker~Rs scholarship would be allocated to 20 best students (monthly
20.000 drams). The President, the Prime Minister, the businessmen of
the country assist them. In the words of the Speaker of the National
Assembly, as much the economic situation of the country improves,
the entries of the state budget will increase, so much it will be
possible to address more money to the educational sphere.
One of the schoolchildren~Rs questions was about the NA Speaker~Rs
attitude towards intellectual games. Hovik Abrahamyan greeted the
conduct of such games, expressing willingness to support them.
The Head of the Educational Department of Yerevan Municipality Gayane
Soghomonyan thanked for the meeting and noted that it was a political,
civilized lesson for the children, which was held in free and sincere
atmosphere. She suggested that the deputies would visit schools
and have meetings with the schoolchildren. Expressing his positive
attitude about the proposal the NA Speaker expressed willingness to
be the schoolchildren~Rs guest, emphasizing the deputies~R visits,
in particular, those who were elected from the given precincts.
