Chairman of the inter-parliamentary assembly on orthodoxy Sergey
Popov told today journalists that a big crime was committed in 1915,
which was internationally recognized. "Annihilation of a nation was
implemented purposefully and in a wicked way. All of us respect
Armenian people and express our deep condolence for the innocent
victims. It is of great importance to us to do so that a similar
crime is not committed any more, and that the Armenian nation does not
face suchlike challenges. We must proudly note that Armenian people
have managed to preserve the national identity, to form a free and
independent state," S. Popov said.
The latter also planted a fir-tree in the park dedicated to the memory
