NKR political forces issue statement

The political forces represented in the National Assembly of the
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) ` Armenian Revolutionary Federation
(ARF) in the person of Armen Sargsyan, Free Homeland (Artur
Tovmasyan), as well as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee
Vahram Atanesyan ` issued a statement in connection with the
Kosovo-related verdict returned by the International Court of Justice
(ICJ).
`The verdict by the U.N. court confirmed that the self-determination
principle does not violate international legal norms, including the
principle of territorial integrity. Nagorno-Karabakh is ready to
perform its role in the peace talks. Considering the current situation
in the international political arena, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is
ready to assume responsibility for the sake of progress, regional
peace and international security. On December 10, 1991,
Nagorno-Karabakh, in conformity with international and USSR laws
declared independence. The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has proved it is
a full-fledged state since,' says the statement.
