There are churches in all 72 Armenian villages of Akhalkalaki region,
yet the majority of them are destroyed, Akhalkalaki Holy Cross church
prior, reverend father Tatev Marukyan said.
As he told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, "We're making our best efforts
to attract Javahk people to churches. 4 churches have already been
restored. Holy Echmiadzin greatly assists us, sending literature
and organizing visits of Armenian priests. Still, Armenian churches
in Georgia are undergoing hard times. Armenian Apostolic Church is
still unregistered in Georgia and there's no information as to when
that will happen. As you know, Georgians have a claim for some of our
churches. But we're still struggling, assisted by local population,"
reverend father emphasized.
