Provost to Depart American University of Armenia

After many years of service to the American University of Armenia, Provost
Lucig Danielian will depart the university at the end of June 2011. AUA
thanks Dr. Danielian for her commitment to the university and wishes her
    well in her future endeavors.

"It has been a privilege to work with Dr. Danielian during my first year as
President," said AUA President Bruce Boghosian. "In her seventeen years at
this institution, she has worked tirelessly to improve our academics, to
expand our programs and facilities, and to see us through the process of
accreditation." AUA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges, one of six regional accrediting agencies recognized by the United
    States Department of Education.

Effective July 1, University of California Berkeley professor Armen Der
Kiureghian will assume the position of Interim Provost. Dr. Der Kiureghian
is well known to the AUA community as a founder of the institution and
former Dean of Engineering. He is an elected member of the National Academy
of Engineering in the United States and the National Academy of Sciences in
Armenia. President Boghosian expressed his appreciation for Dr. Der
Kiureghian's service, noting in particular his familiarity with AUA, as well
as his expertise in university administration and the accreditation process.

AUA will open searches imminently for a Provost, a Dean of the Department of
Political Science and International Affairs, and a Vice President of
Operations. The university plans to move in new directions, significantly
    expanding its educational mission.
