ETCHMIADZIN OFFICIAL RELEASED; JUDGE'S NAME HASN'T

The Armavir Regional Court yesterday ordered the release of Norik
Mirzakhanyan, an official with the Etchmiadzin Municipality arrested
on December 12 for drug possession.
The court rejected a motion by the investigator to detain Mirzakhanyan
for a period of two months prior to his trial and instead released
the head of the Etchmiadzin Municipality's Department of Residential
Communal Affairs on his own recognizance.
Police found 7.4 grams of an illegal substance in Mirzakhanyan's
possession when his car was stopped on the Yerevan-Etchmiadzin highway.
The name of the judge who ordered Mirzakhanyan's release has not been
made public.
