The most important forecasts predict news waves of financial and
economic crisis, which are expected to last for years.
"And we are going to face this social uncertainty," Garegin Chukaszyan,
a member of the Sardarapat movement, told journalists Dec. 1.
According to him, the world's political scene is showing signs of
"heat." "Evidence thereof is the Arab spring, New York autumn,
Moscow winter, and coming elections in the worlds centers of power,
United States and Russia," Chukaszyan said.
Speaking of the political situation in Armenia, he said that Armenia
is "a kingdom of crooked mirrors." However, he noted intensification
of political processes - struggle for the Trchkan waterfalls, Narek
Harutyunyan case, the Armenian Diaspora's activities and criticism
by the businessman Levon Hayrapetyan and world-famous singer Charles
Aznavour.
"One new fact in domestic political election processes can be singled
out as well. It is underdeveloped civil society, which will not
allow the opposition to manipulate it. The opposition is alienated,
and nothing good may come of it," Chukaszyan said.
The Sardarapat movement attaches importance to civilian resistance
and to the first small victories.
"In this context, we propose an alternative front: active initiatives,
their development into democracy, namely, preparation for an advance
in Armenia," Chukaszyan said. The real opposition has disintegrated,
and an alternative political force that stemmed from popular movement
can fill this vacuum," he said.
"We have no right to disappoint people, as it is the people that are
our major asset," he said.
