COST OF CONSUMER BASKET IN JAN.-FEB. SURGES BY 19.9% FROM PREVIOUS QUARTER

YEREVAN
The cost of consumer basket in Armenia in the first three months of
this year surged by 19.9% from the last quarter of 2010 and stood at
62,640 Drams at the end of 2011 March, according to the fresh numbers,
released by the National Statistical Service (NSS).
According to NSS data, the cost of the minimum monthly set of foods
was 35,390 Drams, rising by 20% in January-March 2011 from the
previous quarter.
The consumer basket includes bread (the monthly cost of bread necessary
for one individual is 5,381 Drams), meat (7,211 Drams), potato (2,265
Drams), fruits (7,627 Drams), sugar (552 Drams), dairy products (5,703
Drams), eggs (917 Drams), vegetable oil (499 Drams), fish (2000 Drams),
margarine (301 Drams) and other foods. ($1-370.27 Drams).
