Armenian society distrusts in dialogue between authorities and
Armenian National Congress, political expert thinks

By relying on the potential of the society only for resolving their
own tasks at the same time the political elite of Armenia is more and
more moving away from
the society, director of the Armenian Center for National and
International Studies, Manvel Sarkisyan, said at today's round table.
He think that the "elite" is not only the ruling top of Armenia but
also the leadership of all the political parties including the
opposition ones. "The uncertainty of the political life was caused by
no dialogue between the authorities and Armenian National Congress.
Sensible people may ask what is hidden under rapprochement of the
above mentioned forces. They do not trust in any of them. The point is
that the authoritarianism peculiar to the leadership of Armenia is
also available within the Armenian National Congress in a more sharp
form. And it is very much important that many supporters of the
"radical opposition" have started understanding this', - Sarkisyan
said. Moreover, if a principle of bargain has been acting within the
power elite, with a help of which functions and authorities are
distributed, the full "power vertical" exists within the Armenian
National Congress.
Nevertheless, the expert is optimistic for the fact that the
electorate has started putting forward demands to the opposition and
expressing displeasure in case of their non-fulfillment. This is
evidence of maturity of the society, which opens the door to formation
of the practice of the normal elections, he said.
