AZERBAIJAN'S JUST POSITION VOICED IN FRENCH SENATE

Azerbaijan's just position has been voiced in the French Senate.

In her speech, Senator Nathalie Goulet stressed the inadmissibility
of the use of the "Armenian Genocide" by the Armenians to justify
the occupation of internationally recognized Azerbaijani territories,
the Azerbaijani Embassy in France told Trend today.

Senator from Lower Normandy Nathalie Goulet made a speech during the
discussion of a bill on criminal liability for denying the "Armenian
Genocide" in the Senate and stressed the importance of informing
the French community that the Azerbaijanis bear no relation to this
    imaginary "genocide."

She said no one discusses the real genocide committed not in the
distant 1915, but a few years ago in 1992 in Khojaly where many
    Azerbaijanis were killed.

At the end of her speech, the Senator, on behalf of the Central Union
Group, which she represents, called on other senators to vote against
    this bill.

Goulet's speech was accompanied by yells and cues of pro-Armenian
senators who tried to put pressure on her.

Chairman of France-Caucasus friendship group of the French Senate,
Senator Ambroise Dupont also opposed the bill in the Senate. He said
such a bill can damage relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, weaken
France's position as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. Dupont urged
    senators to consider these arguments.

The bill on criminal liability for denying the "Armenian Genocide"
was adopted by the Lower House of the French Parliament in 2006. The
bill put forward by a member of the Socialist Party, Serge Lagauche
and 30 socialist MPs, envisages a year imprisonment and a fine worth
45,000 euros for denying the Armenian genocide.
