TBILISI HOSTS TRACECA MEETING
Baku, Oct 6, IRNA -- Tbilisi hosted a meeting of the permanent
secretariat of the inter-governmental commission of TRACECA, including
Islamic Republic of Iran on Thursday.
National secretaries of the 13 TRACECA member-states attended the
meeting and discussed facilitating transition from East to West and
from North to South.
National Secretary of IGC TRACECA, Deputy Minister of Road and
Transportation Shahriar Afandizadeh headed Iranian delegation in
the meeting.
Iran, Georgia, Ghazaghestan, Bulgharistan, Gherghizestan, Uzbekistan,
Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia,
Lithuania, Ukraine, Romania and EU commission representative attended
the meeting.
The meeting focused on the implementation of projects within the
TRACECA program. In addition, a meeting of the working group on
improving the competitiveness of the TRACECA transport corridor
was held.
The event was attended by representatives from the ministries of
transport, ports and railways of the TRACECA member-states.
The main theme of the meeting was to develop a tariff policy of TRACECA
(Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor) and the competitiveness of
the corridor.
The meeting of experts of the permanent secretariat of the
inter-governmental commission of TRACECA was held on October 4-5.
TRACECA is an international transport cooperation program between the
EU and its Partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and
Central Asia. It has a permanent Secretariat in Baku, Azerbaijan. The
cooperation framework covers the areas of maritime transport, aviation,
road and rail, transport security, and transport infrastructure.
