Armenian political analyst says Sarkozy visit `ineffectual'
October 8, 2011 - 14:59 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian political analyst assessed the 2-day visit
of French President Nicolas Sarkozy to Yerevan as `ineffectual'.`The
visit merely underscored Armenia-France ties, with Sarkozy making no
new comment on either the Armenian Genocide or Karabakh conflict,'
Sergey Shakaryants told a news conference in Yerevan.
`The Europe and, consequently France are unable to contribute to
Karabakh settlement, Armenia-Turkey ties, and moreover, positively
affect the military and political situation in the region,' the expert
noted.
Commenting on Turkey's response to Sarkozy's urge to come to terms
with its past, the expert cited Davutoglu, who reminded France of its
colonial history. `Which proves Turkey incapable of civilized
response,' Shakaryants stressed.
