The definition of military aggression does not lose its international
strength, even if its object is not internationally recognized yet,
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan stated during
today's "New Approaches to NKR Issue" scientific conference in Yerevan.
According to him, basic international documents do not create
contradiction between laws of self-determination right of people
and territorial integrity, which would not allow the NK issue to
find solution. "Self-determination right of peoples is completely
compatible with UN goals," Shavarsh Kocharyan said.
"Armenia had a full right to support realization of self-determination
of NK people. For other countries it can be also considered a
duty," the Deputy Foreign Minister stressed, adding that definition
of aggression in the UN resolution is considered as use of force
against self-authority of another country, territorial inviolability
or political independence. "But I want to draw the attention to
the thing that in the given case the definition of state is not
determined by affiliation with the United Nations. Hence, here
internationally unrecognized states can be involved as well. So our
position is invulnerable from the viewpoint of international law. As
for our rival, it distorts internationally accepted thesis," Shavarsh
Kocharyan stated.
