YEREVAN, April 23. /ARKA/. Lack of professionals and outdated equipment
are the most pressing problems of Armenian science, according to the
president of the National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan.
"We are not able to solve many problems due to outdated equipment
and a small number of researchers of middle age," he said at a press
conference on Monday.
Martirosyan said 29% of researchers are people under the age of 35
years, 26% are 35 -55 years old and 45% are over 55. He added that
this does not mean that the Armenian science is dying and losing
its quality.
"Armenian science now is at a sufficiently high level and almost
corresponds to the average world level," he said, adding that this
fact is also supported by international experts.
Noting that the most advanced science in Armenia is physics,
Martirosyan said that the country needs to advance researches in solar,
geothermal and wind energy.
