The joint headquarters set to monitor the upcoming parliamentary
elections in Armenia has convened today its regular sitting, declaring
its decision to apply to the Constitutional Court of Armenia demanding
publication of the voters' lists.
Briefing on the work of the headquarters and its results the
representatives stressed that they will demand from the CC speeded-up
examination of the application.
Armenian National Congress (ANC) coordinator Levon Zurabyan, Prosperous
Armenia party members Vardan Oskanyan and Vahe Enfiajyan participated
in the works of the headquarters. The Heritage party refused to
participate in the works.
Initiator of the headquarters, chairman of the Union of Political
Scientists of Armenia Hmayak Hovhannissyan said the most important
issue is connected with the voters' lists, which are 'obviously
exaggerated'. 'The list includes 400 000 not existing voters,' he said.
Representative from the ARF Armen Rustamyan did not attend the sitting
as well but, as Hmayak Hovhannissyan said, he has not participated
with technical reasons and the ARF too backs the initiative and will
sign the application to the CC.
PAP representative Vartan Oskanian said the inaccuracies are rather
massive supposing that an assignment has been received to include a
number of false names in the lists.
Vartan Oskanian presented the frauds registered by the PAP. They were
too connected with the lists of voters.
Levon Zurabyan, from the ANC, briefed on the inaccuracies discovered
by the opposition bloc and said they will soon be publicized. 'We
will publicize and you'll see that it is of a fantasy genre,' he said.
About 20 MPs from only the PAP joined the initiative to apply to the
Constitutional Court.
