Russian President Vladimir Putin said he is hoping that the
Russian-Armenian intergovernmental economic cooperation commission
will form a "roadmap" of joint actions until 2020. The president said
so after talks with this Armenian colleague Serzh Sargsyan.
He reminded that Russia is Armenia's key foreign trade partner.
"Hopefully, the intergovernmental commission, which is resuming its
work, will prepare a program of cooperation until 2020, something
along the lines of a "roadmap" to develop our trade and economic ties,"
Putin said.
He noted a high level of regional cooperation between the two countries
which involves some 70 Russian provinces.
Regional cooperation's assuming specific organizational forms: in
April 2011, Yerevan hosted the first regional forum, and the second
forum is planned for November 2012.
The parties thoroughly discussed the prospects for stepping up
cooperation in the CIS and CSTO, as well as Eurasian integration,
the Russian leader went on to say.
An accord was reached to setting up a mixed commission. "We agreed that
we'll set up a commission which will check how the latest achievements
in cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan and within the Customs
Union and the Economic Space could be applied to Armenia," Putin said.
