YEREVAN.- The leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisian considers
that the Armenian President has to cut unnecessary expenses.
Speaking at a public meeting held on Saturday, Hovannisian said that
the President of Armenia must abandon unnecessary expense on his plane
and other things the head of state has no right to have. According to
Hovhannisian, the president of a country, which is in a state of
Armenia, should rather travel by economy class.
Heritage leader deems the country should have a new constitution, the
state be governed by a parliamentary system and the legislation meet
international standards.
Speaking about foreign policy issues, Hovannisian highlighted the
development of Armenian-Georgian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti as a
connecting link between the two countries. He stressed that relations
between Yerevan and Moscow must be reloaded.
`We must put an end to vertical relationships, and build new ones
based on mutual respect and mutual benefit,' he emphasized.
Referring to the 100thanniversary of the Armenian Genocide and
relations with Turkey, politician underscored importance of changing
policy towards Ankara. He considers it is necessary to drop the
previously signed Armenian-Turkish protocols containing dangerous
provisions for the Armenian side, and work to ensure Armenia's access
to the sea.
As to the relations between Armenia and Diaspora, there must be a
mature partnership, he said pointing out migration as one of the
crucial problems.
Raffi Hovannisian plans to run for president in 2013.
