YEREVAN. - During its Central Committee plenum on Saturday, the
Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) decided to boycott the country's
presidential elections to be held on February 18, 2013. Yerjanik
Ghazaryan, Secretary of Youth Policy of CPA Central Committee,
informed this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, this decision states that it is impossible to wage an
ideological battle - starting from the campaign season - , and this makes
it completely senseless for the Communist Party to nominate a
presidential candidate. Furthermore, since the current presidential
hopefuls do not include an individual that favors a socialist path for
the country's development, CPA will not support any candidate.
As per Armenia's communists, another reason why they will not run in
the elections is because, `the authorities totally falsify the
election results, all through the entire history of independent
Armenia, and, sadly, there are no conditions, at present, to change
this situation.'
