YEREVAN, DECEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS: Valérie Boyer representative of
Bouches-du-Rhône department and member of the Union for a Popular
Movement has presented to French Parliament a new draft law on
criminalizing the denial of Armenian Genocide. As reports Armenpress
referring to `Azatutyun' radio station, the draft law which was noted
by French National Assembly presidency on December 19, suggests
corresponding amendments to the 1881 Law on Freedom of the Press, thus
establishing legal basis of struggle against the fact of racism and
Armenian Genocide.
Valérie Boyer's draft low was accepted by two chambers of French
Parliaments last year therefore then was declared unconstitutional by
the Constitutional Council. The new draft also offers a one-year
imprisonment or a fine of 45 thousand euros for crimes against
humanity, including genocide denial.
