YEREVAN THERMAL POWER PLANT TO IMPORT COAL FROM ARTSAKH

The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant is launching a new energy block that
will operate with coal imported from Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) ,
according the minister of energy and natural resources.
At a news conference on Thursday, Armen Movsisyan said that the old
block which was blasted recentluy was no longer fit for operation.
"Our main objective is to introduce new technologies to operate the
Thermal Power Plant," he said.
Before speaking of the new energy block, the minister addressed the
situation with the Nuclear Power Plant. He said they will do their
best to bring it in compliance with EU criteria, adding that the NPP
will also launch security testing services.
As major concerns, the minister further dwelled on the exploitation
of mines and lands. He noted particularly that certain agricultural
plots of land on the territory of Armenia are being used as mines.
