MAYOR OF GYUMRI TO RUN FOR REELECTION

"Mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan will run for reelection. We have not
changed our plans," Lilit Aghekyan, spokesperson for Vardan Ghukasyan,
told Panorama.am, commenting on media reports that Vardan Ghukasyan
is not running for reelection.
"I don't know who tries to create false panic around this topic,"
she said.
Zhamanak daily reported that Mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan is not
running for reelection because Serzh Sargsyan decided that PAP member
Samvel Balasanyan should run for mayor of Gyumri.
"The mayor will carry out his plans and will run for reelection
without fail," Mrs. Aghekyan stressed.
Gyumri mayoral elections will take place on September 9. Candidate
nominations will begin on August 5.
