19 YEARS AGO AGHDAM WAS LIBERATED

    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, JULY 23, ARMENPRESS: Today the Republic of Artsakh is
celebrating the 19th Anniversary of Liberation of Aghdam. Due to
Armenian army`s great job, this Armenian part was liberated from
    Azerbaijan in 1993.

After the liberation of Shoushi, the main priority goal was going to be
the exemption of Aghdam. The artillery provision of Aghdam occupation
was hard enough, its duration was 40 days. Though the threats, made
by Azerbaijan, that they had airplanes, tanks and other ammunition,
Armenian armed forces managed to reach the victory. Be liberating
Aghdam, the standing risk of Stepanakert disappeared too.

The population of the capital city and the surrounding villages, was
released from the rocket attack. The opponent had a great military and
moral loss, as Aghdam was a huge junction of highways and railways. It
was not accidental that after that defeat the Azerbaijani authority
applied to the authority of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh for the
    first time for a cease-fire.

The experts assessed the destruction of Aghdam weapon emplacements
in 1993 as a brilliant military operation of Karabakh army.
