Armenian Ambassador to Canada Armen Yeganyan had a meeting with Andrew
Scheer, Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons.
The parties discussed the Armenian-Canadian relations, the
inter-parliamentary cooperation, particularly the activity of the
Deputy Friendship Groups.
The interlocutors referred to regional issues. At the request of
the Canadian Parliament Speaker, the Armenian Ambassador presented
the experience of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations,
as well as the latest developments in the process of settlement of
the Karabakh issue.
In that context Ambassador Yeganyan called attention to the fact that
Azerbaijan has adopted a non-constructive position on the issue, which
slows down the progress in the negotiations. The state propaganda
machine of Azerbaijan disseminates hatred towards Armenians among
its citizens, which counters the logic of the process.
On behalf of the Armenian government, Armen Yeganyan expressed
gratitude for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the
legislative and executive bodies of Canada
