We have photos of passports which have been stamped about 3-4 times
during the May 6 parliamentary elections. It means that certain people
voted more than once, knowing that the ink does not vanish from the
passport, Coordinator of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) Levon
Zurabyan told during the sitting of the Inter-Party Headquarters for
Public Oversight of the Elections.
The HAK official says about 800-900 thousand people participated in
the voting, the other 700 thousand 'were involved in election rigging
on a state level.'
"The farther the polling stations were, the more audaciously election
riggers behaved," he stressed.
Levon Zurabyan underlines that voter turnout has never exceeded 50%
in any democratic country.
"Meanwhile, unprecedented turnout was recorded in Armenia, with 86%
of eligible voters casting ballots in the May 6 polls. The real number
of voters stands at 1 800 000, as 700 000 of the country's 2 500 000
people are not in the republic," he said.
