Prosperous Armenia party's faction secretary Naira Zohrabyan describes
the statement made by Armenia's PM Tigran Sargsyan at the State
University of Economics incorrect.
According to Zhoghovurd paper, the PM stated that very often members
of needy families able to work prefer to get 30-50 thousand drams
allowance than work and get 100-120 thousand drams' salary.
`With this statement he [Tigran Sargsyan] offends the Armenian
citizen. It appears that an Armenian citizen able to work prefers to
be without work and get the allowance set by the state than work and
get 100-120 thousand drams salary, like the prime minister claims. I
repeat Tigran Sargsyan has called an Armenian citizen lazy,' she said.
Zohrabyan said a number of Armenian citizens have applied to the
Prosperous Armenia party, asking to convey to the PM that they are
ready to work with the salary the PM has mentioned and asked him to
say where these jobs are. Zohrabyan also said Sargsyan would have
better think how it happens when an Armenian that leaves the country
quickly finds job in any other place, manages to keep his family,
while in Armenia, according to the PM, prefers to get allowance.
Naira Zohrabyan said she is not surprised that this logic dominates in
the government, saying that deputy economy minister Karine Minasyan
repeated the PM's thesis, saying the following, `We are touring in
Armenia's regions and have witnessed that the Armenian citizens prefer
to get allowances than work.'
The PAP MP considered such approach destructive, noting that Tigran
Sargsyan should explain what he meant by saying it.
Asked about the decision of the Rule of Law party to decline the PAP's
offer on passing to parliamentary system of government, Zohrabyan said
they have been informed about the party's decision but it does not
change their agenda.
