On October 4 Turkish Grand National Assembly passed a sensational
decision according to which the Government was allowed to set off any
kind of military actions in trans-boundary zone within one-year period.
'In other words Turkish Mejlis allowed the Government to use military
force outside the country at the same time not mentioning the exact
border: Syria - Turkey, Iraq - Turkey, Armenia - Turkey or Georgia -
Turkey. This is a sensational phenomenon because Turkey is a NATO
member and it decides to send troops to another country without
NATO's decision' Arayik Sargsyan, Vice-President of RF Academy of
Geopolitical Studies, said during the press conference today.
'No one has explained or assessed the issue so far' Arayik Sargsyan
said, adding that this means the Turkish Government is entitled to
carry out military operations in the trans-boundary zone of the border
between Armenia and Turkey.
'In some fields interests of Armenia and Russia coincide in the scopes
of foreign policy; Armenia does not have resources to demand anything
from Syria, but Russia's actions can be beneficial for the Armenian
community, because if Assad stays in power, that will benefit the
Armenian community' mentioned Arayik Sargsyan.
