MPs called on the EU to play a stronger role in the settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

session in Strasbourg issue of release of Ramil Safarov. APA reports
quoting the press service of the European Parliament.
Members expressed their regret for pardon by President of Azerbaijan
Ilham Aliyev, extracted August 31 from Hungary to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, as well as in connection with the
"heroic" welcome that Safarov after his return to Azerbaijan.
MEPs expressed concern that the issue could further inflame tensions
between Azerbaijan and Armenia and threaten "all peace processes
of reconciliation." MPs noted that the "legitimate frustration in
Azerbaijan and Armenia" at the lack of substantial progress in the
peace process in Nagorno-Karabakh" does not justify either acts of
revenge or futile provocations.
They called on the EU to play a more active role in the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
