SILK ROAD PROJECT LAUNCHED IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, April 2 - A project was launched here Tuesday to stimulate
cross-border cooperation and economic development in four countries
along the Silk Road.
The two-year Silk Road Project involves 173 communities in Greece,
Turkey, Georgia and Armenia, Trajan Hristea, head of the European Union
(EU) Delegation to Armenia, was quoted by local media as saying.
Financed by the EU and the United States, it targets economic
development along the Silk Road from the Armenian city of Meghri
to Greece's Thessaloniki by establishing and stimulating industries
and services.
In Armenia alone, the project will facilitate the installation of
148 signs, 114 information stands and 77 roadmaps in 43 communities.
